flying home
Feature documentary by Tobias Wyss, 90 Min.
Walter Otto Wyss emigrates after a tragic car accident in 1939 into the USA. In America he designs a revolutionary hybrid car, which stays a prototype. After having a love relationship with the Afro-American dancer Martinique in Los Angeles, he leaves for Japan to obsessively study the Japanese language. The last 30 years of his life Walter spends in Honolulu. He dies in 2001.
Despite many opportunities to achieve his dream of freedom, success, and happiness, Walter Otto Wyss was not able to set himself free from his mother, his homeland and his heavy guilt.
